The camera quick release plate is a simple but effective accessory for fast and easy mounting of your camera and accessories. This plate is made of high-grade aluminum and features rubberized gripping pads on the top surface. Its mounting screw is built with a folding handle for convenience. Three slots are provided for a variety of mounting options. This plate can be mounted on your camera with the help of Allen Wrenches. Depending on the type of camera you have, you can select the appropriate plate according to the size of your receiver.
Arca-Swiss-style camera quick release plates clamp the camera’s base plate into the tripod head. They have tapered edges that prevent the plate from being lifted out of the system. Similarly, the ARCA-Swiss type quick release plate is universal and works with most camera brands. The UK-based 3 Legged Thing brand produces brightly-coloured brackets that are compatible with many cameras. Other well-known brands include Wimberley, Leica, and Slik.
Cameras that have a quick release plate are easier to mount than other devices. The quick release plate has a base plate that fits snugly on your camera and has a 1/4-20 screw for attaching it to a tripod mount. The plate will often come with a small handle that screws into the camera’s thread. Other systems may require a screwdriver to tighten the base plate. A lens arrow on the camera body will indicate the direction of mounting if you’re using one of these types of accessories.
