Camera Update: The Meerkat 4.2

Camera Update 7.3 brings a lot of punch to the Pocket Cinema Camera range, which is probably the most popular of all the Pocket camcorders on the market. It’s packing a great deal of new features into a range that’s been improving over the last few years, so it’s worth going in for if you’ve not already done so. Features included in this upgrade include:

The big one, of course, is the improved video quality, especially when shooting video from your pocket cam – as this camera update enables you to shoot in native 4K resolution, so you can really see the difference. This quality doesn’t last long, however – in fact you may need to repeat the update if your video starts looking a little bluer than usual after you’ve had time to properly process it. Other changes in this camera software include: improved menu system, easier access to movie controls, quicker start-up, improved red eye removal, and an in-built date stamping function. These are certainly impressive, but we need to mention the other features as well: the new in-built library of media files gives you more than enough storage space to store your favourite videos, and there’s also a host of innovative features that will help your browsing become a whole lot faster and easier.

Some of these additional additions include: the ability to import photos directly from your computer (in raw format), so you don’t have to worry about transferring them to your Pocket camera and the inclusion of the Meerkat Connector, which allows you to connect your camera directly to your computer using its USB connection. This gives you the freedom to move your camera as you like between different locations, without worrying about connecting it to a USB card or worrying about compatibility with other devices. In addition, the USB connection means that you can quickly transfer and edit any other files you want to use on your camera – including music and pictures. This camera update also includes the Meerkat Connector, which is a handy little gadget that allows you to turn your Meerkat into a portable TV stand with its handy and easy to use cable connections. And, if you get tired of holding the Meerkat in one hand, the backlight will come in handy – simply press the backlight button on your Meerkat and it’ll illuminate your camera screen. There are a handful more minor improvements here and there, but we’ll save those for our review of the camera’s new features.
